The same cat from the tee, out in the world now — sat squarely in the seed tray on one side, and on the other the full scene: the flattened seedlings, a clay pot, a worn trowel, a pair of canvas gloves and a ball of twine. Two sides, one afternoon, and a garden slightly worse for it.

The artwork is painted by hand in gouache, in the manner of a 1940s natural history plate — soft brushwork, warm muted colour, and a cat entirely at ease with what it has done.

Long handles for the shoulder, reinforced stitching where the weight goes, and room for a trowel, a book and the rest of it.
