The Gardening Cat

A black cat sitting squarely in a tray of seedlings, entirely composed, having flattened every one of them. Painted in gouache in the manner of a 1940s natural history plate — terracotta, olive, ochre and espresso. Small on the chest, and larger across the back, where the full scene sits: the tray, a clay pot, a worn trowel, a pair of canvas gloves and a ball of twine.
